Code of Conduct
This Release and Waiver of Liability (“Volunteer”) releases the African American Community Service Agency (AACSA), a nonprofit corporation organized and existing under the laws of the State of California and each of its directors, officers, employees,
and agents. The Volunteer desires to provide volunteer services for Nonprofit and engage in activities related
to serving as a volunteer.
Volunteer understands that the scope of Volunteer’s relationship with AACSA is limited to a volunteer position
and that no compensation is expected in return for services provided by Volunteer; that AACSA will not provide
any benefits traditionally associated with employment to Volunteer; and that Volunteer is responsible for his/her
own insurance coverage in the event of personal injury or illness as a result of Volunteer’s services to Nonprofit.
1. Waiver and Release: I, the Volunteer, release and forever discharge and hold harmless AACSA and its
successors and assigns from any and all liability, claims, and demands of whatever kind of nature,
either in law or in equity, which arise or may hereafter arise from the services I provide to AACSA. I
understand and acknowledge that this Release discharges AACSA from any liability or claim that I may
have against AACSA with respect to bodily injury, personal injury, illness, death, or property damage
that may result from the services I provide to AACSA or occurring while I am providing volunteer
services.
2. Insurance: Further, I understand that AACSA does not assume any responsibility for or obligation to
provide me with financial or other assistance, including but not limited to medical, health, or disability
benefits or insurance. I expressly waive any such claim for compensation or liability on the part of
AACSA beyond what may be offered freely by AACSA in the event of injury or medical expenses
incurred by me.
3. Medical Treatment: I hereby Release and forever discharge AACSA from any claim whatsoever which
arises or may hereafter arise on account of any first-aid treatment or other medical services rendered in
connection with an emergency during my tenure as a volunteer with AACSA.
4. Assumption of Risk: I understand that the services I provide to AACSA may include activities that may
be hazardous to me. As a volunteer, I hereby expressly assume risk of injury or harm from these
activities and Release AACSA from all liability.
5. Photographic Release: I grant and convey to AACSA all right, title, and interests in any and all
photographs, images, video, or audio recordings of me or my likeness or voice made by AACSA in
connection with my providing volunteer services to AACSA.
6. Other: As a volunteer, I expressly agree that this Release is intended to be as broad and inclusive as
permitted by the laws of the State of California and that this Release shall be governed by and
interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of California. I agree that in the event that any
clause or provision of this Release is deemed invalid, the enforceability of the remaining provisions of
this Release shall not be affected.
By signing below, I express my understanding and intent to enter into this Release and Waiver of Liability
willingly and voluntarily.

African American Community Service Agency Code of Conduct
The African American Community Service Agency (AACSA) is grateful for everyone who volunteers for
AACSA. Our efforts to make your experience effective, impactful, and positive. We have reviewed our Code of
Conduct and made a few updates to guide you as a volunteer.
African American Community Service Agency (AACSA), a community-based organization dedicated to
providing quality educational, cultural, social and recreational programs, services and activities in order to
perpetuate and strengthen African American identity, culture, values, traditions, knowledge and family life.
Participation in the organization's programs is subject to the observance of the organization's rules and
procedures. The activities outlined below are strictly prohibited. Any participant or staff member who violates
this Code is subject to discipline, up to and including removal from the program.
● Abusive language towards a staff member, volunteer or another participant.
● Possession or use of alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs on AACSA's property or reporting to the
program while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
● Bringing onto AACSA's property dangerous or unauthorized materials such as explosives, firearms,
weapons or other similar items.
● Discourtesy or rudeness to a fellow participant, staff member or volunteer.
● Verbal, physical or visual and sexual harassment of another participant, staff member or volunteer.
● Actual or threatened violence toward any individual or group.
● Conduct endangering the life, safety, health or well-being of others.
● Failure to follow any agency policy or procedure.
● Bullying or taking unfair advantage of any participant.
● Failing to cooperate with a supervisor/leader/mentor.
Do not take matters into your own hands. If you feel uncomfortable, please ask a manager or committee lead
to address the situation privately. Let staff know if you are comfortable with having an intervention to prevent
escalation. The manager will then document the situation, follow up with an update on the decision to escalate
to the Senior Management or de-escalate the situation with a meeting and training with in 24 hours or earlier.
I have read and I understand the African Community Service Agency's Code of Conduct. I agree to abide by
the rules described above and understand that I may be removed as a participant if I violate any of these rules.

COVID-19 Update
As a safety measure against the spread of COVID-19, the African American Community Service Agency is now requiring a vaccine mandate for all volunteers in 2022. Upon entry into the building, a copy of your vaccine card will have to be collected and/or shown upon entry into the building. If you are not vaccinated, a negative COVID test will have to be provided within 72 hours prior to the start of your shift.

Safety Items, such as information, masks, gloves, and hand sanitizers will be provided at AACSA.

COVID-19 Notice

We require all volunteers to observe COVID-19 guidelines, including but not limited to wearing a mask, sanitizing your hands, not entering the property if you are experiencing symptoms, maintaining 6ft social distance, wearing gloves when handling food and etc.
